CarRank uses the median rather than the mean because dealer and private listings often include outliers: low-mileage premiums, accident cars, or placeholder prices. The median reflects what most cars in the slice are actually listed for.
All models vs one model
When you view all models, the headline shows the observed min–max ask band across every listing in that brand slice. The line below shows the median across the same pool. When you pick a single model, the headline is that model’s median, with min–max shown underneath.
What it is not
This is not a transaction price, bank valuation, or MSRP. It is a snapshot of advertised asks from public listing feeds we ingest, updated when brand stats are rebuilt.
